An Evening with Gilbert and Sullivan
with Excerpts from their Classics
including a complete performance of

Trial by Jury

Sevenoaks School, Pamoja Hall
26th October

Tickets are now on sale

The first half will consist of chorus and solo items from the well-known and beloved range of Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, including Ruddigore, Pirates of Penzance, HMS Pinafore, The Mikado and The Gondoliers. In The Mikado, the 'Three little maids from school', will be sung by actual schoolgirls, who will be joining us from Tunbridge Wells Girls Grammar School. The plan is to also have them as the bridesmaids in Trial by Jury.

This will be followed by a full staging of Trial by Jury. The operetta tells the tale of a trial in which a young lady sues her ex-lover, in a case of "breach of promise of marriage." The cast includes a womanising judge, a tearful plaintiff, a roguish defendant, a incompetent jury, The most irregular proceedings result in a verdict of mirth and merriment.

Done with the usual Kentish Opera flair, with orchestra and professional soloists, along with the superb Kentish Opera chorus. It is directed by Stephen Antony Brown, with Robyn Sevastos as Musical Director.

The soloists and principal roles in Trial by Jury are:

The Learned Judge - Giles Davies
The Plaintiff - Lexie Wisniewska
The Defendant - Stephen Anthony Brown
Counsel for the Plaintiff - Louisa Alice-Rose

Giles played The Pharaoh in our recent Aida and also played Jack Point in our Yeomen of the Guard. Lexie is a member of the Kentish Opera chorus and played the High Priestess in Aida. This will be her first starring role with the company. Stephen directed our recent production of Aida and played Colonel Fairfax in Yeomen of the Guard. Louisa played Phoebe in Yeomen of the Guard.
